The chassis gets professional

OK, so assembly was not quite good enough. Luckily, I had made a friend of Charlie North, professional race car chassis builder, and fellow Elva owner. He politely informed me that the roll bar was not done right, the rear suspension was barely holding together due to wear and rust, the car needed bigger rear brakes, the anti-sway bar needed to be mounted properly, the pedal box needed rebuilding, and so on. Since I was employed at the time, I said, “go ahead and fix it right”. Time went by and I thought that I would never get it back and would never be able to afford to pay him, but neither was true. I got it back and lo and behold, everything was right, and I could (barely) afford to pay him. It was well worth the wait, and the price. I will probably live to see my kids grow up. Thanks, Charlie.
